    Minimum Qualifications
    Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
    • Graduation with Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field related to the job plus three (3) years of experience in a field related to the job, one (1) year of which was in a lead, supervisory, project or program management capacity.
    • Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years.


    Licenses or Certifications:
    • Valid Texas Class C Driver License.

    This position will provide leadership to construction services to include rehabilitation, repairs, reconstruction, new construction, project oversight, as well as monitoring inspections for various department programs.

    Specific duties, functions and responsibilities include the following:

    • Lead construction staff; set priorities; assess work quality.
    • Provide technical advice to staff, contractors, and nonprofits.
    • Develop scope of work documentation.
    • Perform residential inspections.
    • Review estimates and drawings.
    • Review and interpret designs, floor plans, and blueprints for new construction and rehabilitation projects.
    • Interpret building codes, ordinances, and city processes relative to inspections and construction.
    • Manage and oversee construction contracts.
    • Develop and implement standard operating documents.
    • Manage and administer department estimating software.
    • Ensure regulatory compliance with Housing and Urban Development ( HUD ) regulations.
    • Contribute to the creation, development, and implementation of programs.
    • Assist with solicitations.


    Driving Requirement:
    This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet theCity of Austin’s Driver RecordEvaluation ( DRE ) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

    Pay Range
    $30.70 - $38.37

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

    City Government
