    The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is offering an excellent employment opportunity for qualified individuals interested in the Health Services Information Technology Supervisor. There are currently two (2) vacancies in the Health Services Information Technology Division located in Martinez, CA.

    Contra Costa Health is made up of a Health Plan, Public Health, Hazardous Materials, Environmental Health, Housing Homeless and Health, the Regional Medical Center, Behavioral Health, Emergency Management Services, and a full complement of ambulatory care sites including school-based services, which are all supported by the Information Technology Division.

    • Champion the voice of the customer by ensuring product development aligns with user needs, healthcare trends, and regulatory compliance. Define and prioritize features to deliver value and enhance user satisfaction
    • Guide and inspire the team, set clear goals, foster a collaborative environment, and ensure alignment with strategic objectives
    • Manage the product backlog, prioritize tasks, and work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality results. Support Agile practices to ensure efficient workflows and iterative improvements
    • Utilize data analytics to track performance, monitor metrics, and optimize operations and user engagement.
    • Drive iterative enhancements based on feedback and performance. Focus on team development and process improvements.

    The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Medical Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Health Sciences, Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, or a closely related field.

    Experience: Three (3) years of full-time, or its equivalent, experience as a manager, supervisor, or project lead in an information technology environment having responsibility for one or more of the following areas: application support, development/programming, data analysis and report development, systems analysis, technical support and/or network or server administration, at least two (2) years of which was in a health care information systems environment.

    Substitution for Experience: Possession of a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the fields noted above may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

    Substitution for Education:
    One (1) additional year of qualifying experience noted above may be substituted for the required academic major; OR Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of two years; ORPossession of professional technical certifications can substitute for up to a maximum of two (2) years of the required education. Each of the following current and valid certifications can be substituted for six (6) months of required education: Any of the following Epic certifications: Ambulatory, Tapestry, Epic Resolute Hospital Billing, Epic Care Everywhere, Health Information Management, Prelude (Grand Central), EpicCare Inpatient (ClinDoc), Epic Client Systems Administrator/Manager (ECSM), or Operational Database AdministratorCertified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMS)Health Level 7 (HL7) certificationVMWare Certified Professional (VCP), VMWare Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP), VMWare Certified Design Expert (VCDX)Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
    Certification: May be required to obtain and maintain vendor specific certifications on applications supported. The incumbent will be required to obtain the certification requested within 6 months of notification from their supervisor.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Certifications in Epic Access Applications, Scrum, PMP
    • Strong understanding of Epic applications and healthcare IT systems
    • Leadership Skills: Ability to manage teams, mentor staff, and oversee projects
    • Change Management Skills: Ability to lead teams through system upgrades or changes effectively
    • Strong Knowledge of Healthcare Operations: Familiarity with patient access workflows, clinical workflows and healthcare regulations


    Selection Process

    Application Filing and Evaluation: All applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application. Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.Virtual Oral Assessment: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in an online video assessment. The assessment will measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the job. In the assessment, candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of the competencies, as well as an overall passing score of 70% or higher. These may include but are not limited to: Leadership, Delivering Results, Teamwork, Displaying Ownership & Accountability and Oral Communication.(Weighted 100%).
    The Virtual Oral Assessment is tentatively scheduled to take place via computer (remotely) during the week of October 29, 2024.

    The Virtual Oral Assessment will be administered remotely using a computer or mobile device such as a tablet or smartphone. You will need access to a reliable internet connection to take the assessment, as well as a computer or mobile device with a camera.

    The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
