    3% effective 1/20/25 ($34,866 - $44,512 Annually)

    The County of Fresno has an exciting career opportunity available for motivated individuals interested in beginning a rewarding career path as a Stock Clerk.

    The Stock Clerk series is used in county departments to store materials and equipment in an orderly and accessible manner in county storerooms and county warehouse facilities. This includes food commodities, office supplies, perishable goods, clothing, linen and medical supplies. Responsibilities include receiving, inspecting, stocking, issuing and maintaining inventory of materials and equipment in accordance with departmental procedures. Incumbents must become familiar with the materials and equipment of the user department to properly issue requested commodities and identify damaged, defective and outdated materials. In addition, incumbents are required to operate and maintain light vehicles and material handling equipment; move heavy, bulky and hard to handle items; and oversee the issuance and stocking of clothing and supplies.

    Please note : The current vacancy exists in the Department of Internal Services. The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions in other departments as vacancies occur. Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.

    As a condition of employment, candidates may be required to undergo and pass a polygraph or Computer Stress Analysis examination and a personal background investigation. The background investigation includes employment/credit history, verification of education, arrest/criminal records, drug/alcohol use, reference/neighborhood check, and personal conduct. This list is neither inclusive nor exclusive; other relevant areas may be investigated and verified. This classification may require employees to work in Fresno County Detention Facilities. Fresno County Detention Facilities are "no hostage" facilities. This means that in the event you are taken hostage, the County will not bargain for your safe release.

    Positions in this classification are in Medical Group III - Heavy Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require heavy physical effort using arms, legs, back and trunk in frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing (or offering resistance equivalent to) over 25 pounds. Generally, considerable bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are involved. Physical stamina is usually required and explosive strength using bursts of energy may be required, depending upon specific position assignments.

    Minimum Qualifications Experience : No experience required.

    License : Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent, may be required.

    Successful candidates will be placed on an employment list, effective for a minimum of 3 months (may be extended up to 12 months) and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.
