    Security Officer, Senior

    Posting Expires: October 14, 2024

    Salary: $85,000/annually

    Position Summary :

    The Security Officer Senior will assist in overseeing and managing all safety and security operations within the courthouse. This role is critical in ensuring a safe environment for all employees, visitors, and stakeholders. The Security Officer Senior will work closely with the Safety and Security Director to develop and implement security policies, coordinate emergency response procedures, and manage security staff.

    Key Responsibilities

    Security Operations Management:
    • Assist in developing, implementing, and enforcing security policies and procedures.
    • Supervise and coordinate activities of security personnel to ensure compliance with security policies.
    • Monitor and review security operations to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities.
    • Coordinate with law enforcement agencies and emergency responders as needed.

    Emergency Preparedness and Response:
    • Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans and procedures.
    • Conduct regular emergency drills and training sessions for staff.
    • Ensure all safety equipment, such as alarms and surveillance systems, are functional and regularly maintained.
    • Respond to security incidents and emergencies, providing leadership and coordination during such events.

    Staff Management and Training:
    • Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising security staff.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to security personnel.
    • Develop and deliver ongoing training programs to ensure staff are up-to-date on security protocols and procedures.

    Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
    • Conduct regular security assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
    • Recommend and implement measures to mitigate identified risks.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices and advancements in security technology and protocols.

    Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Maintain accurate records of security incidents, inspections, and maintenance activities.
    • Prepare regular reports for the Safety and Security Director and other stakeholders.

    Visitor and Access Control:
    • Oversee visitor management systems to ensure proper screening and authorization.
    • Implement and monitor access control measures to restrict unauthorized entry.
    • Address any security concerns raised by employees or visitors.


    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Protection Professional) are a plus.

    Minimum of 5 years of experience in security management, preferably within a courthouse or similar environment. Prior experience in a supervisory role is preferred.

    Retired APD officer.

    Skills :
    • Strong leadership and management abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations.
    • Proficient in security technology and systems.
    • Knowledge of local, state, and federal security regulations.

    Work Environment :
    • The role is primarily based in a courthouse setting.
    • May require occasional evening or weekend work, especially during emergencies.


    Physical Requirements :
    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Capability to respond quickly to security incidents.
    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally
