The School of Nursing at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a tenure-track open-rank position (Assistant, Associate, or Professor) in the Nurse Midwifery-Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Program, with an appointment beginning in August 2025.

We invite faculty members with certification as a Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, with the women’s health experience and specialization, in both graduate and undergraduate education, and the ability to support students' scholarly culminating work, to apply for the position.

For nearly fifty years, the SON has been at the forefront of advancing nursing education in Southern California. Our comprehensive programs include entry-level (pre-licensure), RN-BSN, Master’s, and Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees. Notably, we host the only Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner/Nurse-Midwifery program in Southern California and offer a specialized School Nursing Credentialing program. Our graduates make significant contributions to the local community, the state of California, and beyond, serving in academic institutions, school districts, and departments of public health.

Position
CSUF Nursing faculty are committed teacher/scholars/clinicians who bring research and clinical practice to life for students in classrooms, clinical settings, and individually mentored projects. They teach across programs and serve on school, college, and university-wide committees. The primary responsibilities of the person in this position will include teaching clinical and didactic courses in the Nurse Midwifery and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner program, as well as obstetric content in the undergraduate nursing curriculum. Additionally, they will teach general nursing content based on their expertise. Responsibilities also include developing and teaching introductory and core courses in the discipline, and developing courses in their area(s) of nursing specialization. Faculty will work with clinical partners to identify preceptors and settings related to their practice specialty areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing scholarship commensurate with the requirements for tenure and will be expected to contribute to and participate in the operation and advancement of the School of Nursing, advise students, serve on committees, and participate in the broader university and disciplinary communities.

Required Qualifications
  • Eligible for Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in California.
  • National certification as a Nurse Midwife is required, with a preference for national certification as both a Nurse Midwife and a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner
  • Demonstrated current clinical competence as a Nurse Midwife and/or Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner with at least two years of experience.
  • Earned doctorate in nursing or related field and a B.S.N. or M.S.N. If doctorate is in progress, must be awarded prior to start of academic term
  • Record of accomplishments in research, teaching, and academic or professional service, appropriate for appointment at the rank of a tenure track assistant professor (less than five years teaching), associate professor (minimum five years teaching), or professor (minimum ten years teaching) in an accredited School or College of Nursing. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on our University and SON standards, including any prior service in a tenure-earning position
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning (classroom, virtual, simulation, lab), and consistent with the nursing program’s vision, mission and goals demonstrated during on campus interview and presentation; eligibility for BRN approval is required if necessary for the area of content expertise
  • Leadership in teaching, research, and/ or community service
  • The ability to work collegially with diverse faculty, staff, and students
  • Commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including first-generation college students

Compensation
The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $5,925 to $12,594 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $7,881 to $8,039 per month.

The Associate Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $6,500 to $13,831 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year).

The Full Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $8,184 to $14,487 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year).

Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work ( https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/california_equal_pay_act.htm ).

Summer research grants, moving expenses, start-up funds, and a reduced teaching load may be available.
