ASSOCIATE DEAN, COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS

California State University, Los Angeles, invites applications for the above Administrator III position.

The Position : The Associate Dean of the College of Business and Economics (CBE) has primary responsibility for the overall administration of the college’s graduate, undergraduate, and special programs and advisement, ensuring the delivery of optimal services for students. This individual works directly with the Dean on strategic planning issues, including developing an up-to-date, market-driven curriculum. They provide strategic leadership, supervise Advising, Placement, and Graduate Center, and take a proactive role in identifying opportunities for organizational and operational improvements across the program functions. They demonstrate a passion for the College's mission and develop creative approaches and strategies to identify new programs and student-centered initiatives. They serve as an essential member of the senior staff on the University and College Committees. This position requires an individual with a passion for academic excellence, a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, and a vision for innovative approaches to business education. The Associate Dean will: provide leadership to enhance the academic programs and strategic initiatives of the CBE; support the faculty and department chairs in curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation; oversee the curriculum and facilitate class scheduling in collaboration with department chairs and staff; assist the dean in fostering a culture of excellence in teaching, research, and service that aligns with the CBE’s mission and values; lead efforts to innovate and adapt curriculum to meet the evolving needs of students and the business community; support the recruitment, retention, mentorship, and professional development of diverse and talented faculty and staff; promote a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and continuous improvement among faculty and staff; advocate for resources and support services to enable faculty and staff to excel in their roles; champion initiatives to enhance student engagement, retention, and success within the CBE; help increase persistence and graduation rates and eliminate equity gaps; oversee advising and career counseling services, evaluate student petitions and appeals, collaborate with college and university partners in student-related events (e.g., recruitment, orientation, recognition and achievement ceremonies), manage student scholarships, and work with department chairs to address student academic issues; collaborate with student organizations and academic advisors to provide resources and support services that meet the diverse needs of students; develop and oversee the implementation of strategies to promote experiential learning, internships, and career development opportunities for students; monitor student outcomes and support the assessment of the effectiveness of academic programs in preparing students for success in their careers; support efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the CBE community; foster a culture of respect, equity, and inclusivity that values and celebrates the contributions of individuals from all backgrounds; and collaborate with university offices to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Required Qualifications & Experience : PHD in a related field from an accredited college or university. Candidates must demonstrate an established record in teaching, service, and scholarship from an AACSB accredited business school and be appointed at the rank of full professor at one of the CBE's academic departments. Two or more years of experience in a leadership role as department chair and/or associate dean in a college of business. Experience with program review and assessment under the AACSB standards and/or other accreditation processes. The incumbent must have knowledge and familiarity with curriculum development, student advising, staff management and development, and instructional technology development and support. Demonstrated ability to work in a shared governance environment or similar organizational setting; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, including faculty, staff, and all levels of administration. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

California State University, Los Angeles, as part of the CSU system, is a State of California Employer. As of January 1, 2022 the CSU Out-of-State Employment Policy prohibits the hiring of employees to perform CSU-related work outside the state of California.

Desired Qualifications : Knowledge of the most recent AACSB standards and reaffirmation of accreditation process or other accreditation processes. Record of significant and successful involvement and leadership in college and university organizational units. Two years of experience in a leadership position with responsibility for budget and personnel. Significant experience in administrative and supervisory roles. Experience working in a collective bargaining environment. Experience working on a large urban university or college campus; with international programs and international students; and managing programs at geographically-dispersed campuses (e.g., satellite campuses).

Compensation : Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range is $6,563 - $21,066/monthly. (Budgeted Hiring Salary Range $14,583 - $15,417/monthly.) A comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Appointment : The Administrator III appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University. All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
