Position Summary:
Responsible for monitoring, trouble-shooting, and maintaining the day-to-day operations in support of the Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).

Job Requirement

Education/Experience:
Equivalent to an Associate's Degree; and two (2) years of professional level experience in information technology, Radiology Information Systems (RIS), or Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).

Licensing/Certification Requirements:
May require Radiology Information Systems (RIS), or Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) training certification

Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements

  • Two years of experience in Information Technology supporting/ troubleshooting PACS and/ OR RIS systems
  • Experience with Health Level 7 (HL7).
  • Experience with Dicom.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

Knowledge of:
Database structure and queries; HL7; DICOM images and workflow in information systems; medical and radiology terminology; Radiology Information Systems (RIS); Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS); standard procedures related to RIS; standard office practices and procedures; records management principles and practices; computer applications related to the work; techniques and procedures for administrative and business applications; operating principles and characteristics of various computers and associated computer hardware; correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation; department and hospital safety practice and procedures; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.

Skill in:
Problem solving and other projects that support radiology needs; knowledge of networking; troubleshooting hardware and software problems; instructing customers in the operation of new or revised computer applications; effective communication; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for an extended period of time, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a eligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
