    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Reporting to the Advocacy Coordinator the Advocacy Specialist will: Recruitment - Assist in recruitment through in-person presentations, outreach events, social media and emailing campaigns to a diverse representative of the community to provide volunteer hotline and accompaniment services, and recruit clinical student interns including but not limited to MSW and MFT graduate level students to provide direct counseling services across programs. 24/7 Response - Completes weekly volunteer and staff schedules, responding to 24-hour calls and accompaniments on an emergent basis, and providing support to volunteers. Prevention Recruitment - Assists in recruitment and selection of volunteers for SU internships and prevention education advocate role, participates in the training of advocates. Training - assists the coordinator in the facilitation of the triannual volunteer training, location reservation, candidate interviews and selection, collection and maintenance of all necessary documentation, arrangement of presenters and necessary media support. Meets regularly with the coordinator to ensure volunteers are participating in required training and meeting regular attendance of advocate supervision. Data and Documentation - in partnership with the coordinator ensures all data is accurately completed and submitted by volunteers in a timely fashion and all filing up to date each month. Work in collaboration with the coordinator to ensure volunteer personnel files are up to date.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social behavioral sciences, public health or a related field is preferred but not required. Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Must pass a Criminal Clearance. Must have excellent computer skills, including the ability to use both Mac and PC platforms and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word). Must be able to work a flexible schedule.

    Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities:

    Must possess a strong interest in assisting individuals who have experienced child maltreatment, domestic violence or sexual violence, and the corresponding responses - investigative, psychological and social. Must have the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with organizations such as law enforcement, child protective services, and prosecutors. Must possess effective problem-solving skills along with the capacity to assist volunteers in developing the necessary tools to meet client needs and strengthen service delivery. Must possess excellent professional oral (public speaking) and written communication skills and be an effective and assertive communicator. Must have the ability to seek answers, address problems, and provide effective follow-through on time-sensitive deadlines with a variety of stakeholders. Must be able to create and implement systems to monitor performance and compliance across a large group of volunteers. Must demonstrate an acceptance and respect for cultural diversity in all its forms, including ethnicity, sexual orientation, abilities, and religious backgrounds and an ability to work collaboratively in an ethnically linguistically, and culturally diverse environment.

    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

    This position is employed through The University Corporation (TUC).

    Full Pay range: $19.71 to $23.33

    The anticipated hiring range: $19.71 to $23.33

    Time Base: Part-time
