Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Mental Health Counselor II (MHC II) position to be located at Caliente Youth Center (CYC), a staff-secure facility located in Caliente, Nevada. The facility includes seven separate housing units for youth committed to the state for correctional care: five units for males and two for females. CYC has the capacity to serve up to 140 youth ages 12 to 18. For over 50 years, the Caliente Youth Center has assisted in helping Nevada's at-risk youth change their course. CYC's mission is to promote positive value change to the youth served through a balanced, team-centered, and strength-based approach. The Mental Health Counselor II completes risk and/or suicide assessments, documents and follows the reporting chain for these incidents as needed or requested by youth, family, therapist or facility; evaluates and makes referrals as needed for psychological testing, psychiatric evaluations, substance abuse treatments, other specialized programming that requires a clinical referral; provides weekly updates for the committed to change program on each youth on their caseload; participates in biweekly admissions meetings and provides input on the mental health needs of youth pending admission; sees youth as regularly as indicated on the treatment plan and at the request of the youth, family and/or facility as clinically indicated; and provides contacts that both meet the needs of the children and families served and provides effective interventions resulting in positive outcomes. This is a full-time position that will be located in Caliente. Nestled up against the mountains, CYC provides a unique atmosphere for correctional care. Park Supervisors (Commissioned) plan, organize, oversee and participate in the administration, law enforcement, maintenance, interpretive programs and resource management of an assigned State park to include budget administration and supervision of staff. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. The Park Supervisor is responsible for the management of Kershaw-Ryan State Park and the Elgin School House State Historic Site, located near Caliente, Nevada. The 1,713 acre Kershaw-Ryan State Park requires intensive landscape maintenance and supports picnicking, volleyball, horseshoes, and a wading pool. The park also maintains a 24/7 RV campground and hiking/mt. biking trails. The restored Elgin School House State Historic Site is located approximately 23 miles South of Caliente, Nevada. Management responsibilities include supervision of employees, budget development, administration and oversight, collection and safeguarding of fees, overall maintenance and operations, and completion of routine and special reports. This is a commissioned (Law Enforcement) position with public safety responsibilities and is required to work various hours and shifts including holidays and weekends in a variety of weather conditions. All personnel in the Park Supervisor series are responsible for ensuring a high level of customer service, developing and presenting a variety of visitor programs, performing ground/facility maintenance and custodial duties. In addition, the successful candidate is required to have extensive natural resource management, recreation and administrative expertise. Park Supervisors, at this level, are often required to determine the most applicable natural resource approach. They are also required to provide training and career development for their staff, identify facility/grounds maintenance needs and the necessary and determine the most cost effect way to coordinate equipment and materials. Park residency, in state park provided housing, is required. In order to receive consideration, applicants must indicate their ability to work in this geographical location. Since this is a commissioned position, the successful candidate, if not currently NV POST certified, would have to successfully complete a NV POST approved Category 1 Peace Officer Academy.
