    Job Description

    What You'll Be Doing

    As the Recruitment Coordinator for the Wake County Board of Elections, you’ll be the driving force behind managing the largest election staffing operation in North Carolina. To manage a pool of more than 10,000 Election Officials, you’ll design workflows, strategies and tools to ensure 216 Election Day polling places and up to 30 Early Voting sites are staffed with trained and qualified Election Officials. This role combines logistics, innovation and customer service. You’ll oversee complex scheduling and communication workflows, support Election Officials through email, phone and in-person contact and play a vital role in building a reliable, responsive election workforce.

    What You Will be Doing as a Board of Elections Recruitment Coordinator:
    • Manage, update and use the database used to track Election Official records, availability, training, assignments, and compliance
    • Staff polling places based on availability, statutory requirements (e.g., party balance, precinct residency) and job preferences
    • Develop tools, portals and reports that support election staffing operations and enhance the Election Official experience
    • Deliver high-quality customer service by assisting Election Officials in person, via phone and by email, including helping with training registration and attendance tracking
    • Maintain databases by adjusting fields, formulas and automations to align with evolving operational needs and election cycles
    • Develop workflows for team members to staff Election Day and Early Voting locations
    • Recruit and manage up to 100 Multipartisan Assistance Team members to assist seniors at nursing homes and assisted living facilities register to vote and request absentee ballots

The Recruitment Coordinator is a key member of our Staffing Team, which oversees the recruitment, assignment and training of Election Officials for all voting sites across the county.     The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

    • Associate's degree
    • Two years of job-related experience
    • Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record
    • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

    Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

    • Experience designing and managing relational databases (preferably in Airtable or similar platforms)
    • Background in public administration, data systems, elections, or process improvement
    • Experience with large-scale staffing, training coordination or CRM-style communication systems
    • Experience supervising permanent or temporary staff

    • Demonstrated ability to create systems and workflows that solve complex logistical challenges
    • Knowledge of database management and the ability to build automations and custom reporting tools
    • Skilled in multitasking across deadlines during high-pressure election periods
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially across email, phone and in-person environments
    • Ability to lead with initiative, adaptability and a collaborative spirit
    • Familiarity with local, state or federal election laws
    • Knowledge of North Carolina General Statutes pertaining to appointment of Precinct Officials
