Wildlife Area Technicians may be assigned to work at a wildlife management area, on a water development crew or as a regional utility person. Typical duties involve the maintenance of wildlife habitat by operating light and heavy equipment, controlling water levels in wetland areas, managing vegetation and related activities intended to develop and enhance an environment which will support the State's wildlife species. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position is assigned to the Steptoe Valley Wildlife Management Area and will be performing duties involving the maintenance of wildlife habitat by operating and maintaining light and heavy equipment, surveying wildlife populations and hunters, controlling water levels in wetland areas, managing vegetation and maintaining public use facilities. This position is being recruited at both the Wildlife Area Technician 1 and 2 levels and may be filled at either level.
