THE POSITION The City of Ventura Water Department is looking for an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician to manage electrical equipment and systems in two of our largest utilities, water production/distribution and wastewater. WHAT YOU’LL DO Reporting to the SCADA Instrumentation & Systems Supervisor, the Instrumentation and Electrical Technician is experienced in installing and maintaining instrumentation related to the water industry. This Technician performs maintenance and repairs on electrical and electronic control systems, data acquisition and remote monitoring communication systems. Equipment and instrumentation under the per view of this position, includes programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, software-controlled units, and wireless remote monitoring systems/devices. Ventura Water provides drinking water to more than 109,000 people through approximately 32,000 water service connections. This complex water system has more than 391 miles of pipeline, 3 water treatment plants, 23 pump stations and 31 reservoirs.
