Locates maintenance areas, maintains service records, and performs video inspections. Performs surface water repairs on manholes, catch basins, gravity mainline, force main, fish passages, side ditch, etc. Performs wastewater maintenance such as grease removal from mainlines, root maintenance, clearing obstructions in manholes, and baiting for rodents. Performs wastewater repairs that include manholes, gravity mainline and force main. Responds to emergencies and on-call status for traffic and BNSF signal problems, downed trees, sewer backups, flooding, fires, motor vehicle accidents, emergency locates, water main breaks, snow and ice events, and spill responses. Supports and assists other departments or agencies such as BNSF, Parks, Fiber, Solid Waste, Fleet Maintenance, and Wastewater Treatment Plant as directed. Performs related duties as assigned. The incumbent will be expected to live onsite or within one hour of Family Camp during the months of March through October as well as be readily available to make bi-monthly (twice a month) visits and repairs to Camp through the winter months of November through February (this includes during times of inclement weather). The incumbent will be expected to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Approved time-off will be limited during the regular camp operating season (May through September). Senior Maintenance Workers perform under direction, plans, schedules, assigns, and reviews the work of large and small crews engaged in semi-skilled and skilled work in the maintenance and repair of streets, sewers, parks, landscaping, and public facilities. Minimum Qualifications Education : Completion of high school or equivalent (General Education Development [GED] Test or California Proficiency Certificate) Experience : Four (4) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of streets, sewers, parks, street landscaping, or public facilities, including at least one (1) year experience providing lead direction to a crew engaged in semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and repair of parks, facilities, and infrastructure; groundskeeping; or landscaping. SALARY STEP INCREASES: The beginning salary and the top of the salary range are usually shown on the job announcement. Upon satisfactory service, salary increases of approximately 5% are given annually until the top of the salary range has been attained.
