ABOUT THE POSITION The Clark County Water Reclamation District is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the position of Part Time Program Assistant. Incumbents will have the opportunity to operate and maintain equipment, perform maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment, and carry out other activities related to the successful operation of an automotive fleet service group. Wastewater Plant Operations (Program Assistant) Under the direction of the WRD WW Plant Operations Supervisor, incumbents will learn and perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in operations. Incumbents will have the opportunity to operate and maintain equipment, monitor flow, learn wastewater treatment processes, conduct plant sampling, and carry out other activities related to the successful operation of a large wastewater treatment facility. Wastewater Collection Systems (Program Assistant) Under the direction of the WRD WW Collection Systems Supervisor, incumbents will learn and perform a variety of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled work in collection system operations. Incumbents will have the opportunity to operate and maintain a combination vacuum and jet-rod truck, assist with odor control maintenance and operations, support construction and repair activities, help with condition assessment, and carry out other activities related to the successful operation of a wastewater collection systems. Centralized Maintenance/Lift Stations (Program Assistant) Under the direction of the WRD Maintenance Supervisor, incumbents will learn and perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in maintenance operations. The Position Irvine Ranch Water District is currently accepting applications for a Senior Maintenance Mechanic. The successful candidate will install, maintain and overhaul all District equipment related to domestic and reclaimed water distribution systems, sewage collection systems and wastewater treatment, and dewatering/solids handling. The ideal candidate is someone with Millwright mechanic skills, is self-motivated, a self-starter, who provides excellent customer service; focused on safety and maintaining professionalism; is detail oriented, dependable and flexible while using critical thinking skills to problem solve. Good pipefitting and production facilities experience is desired. Distinguishing Characteristics Positions at this level are distinguished from other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assumed and the complexity of the duties assigned. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties within the series including performing full range of maintenance, welding, fabrication, mechanical installations, operational duties, condition-based monitoring, mentoring, and leading lower level staff. The District pays the employer's share of these costs. The employee share of the pension cost of 7.50% is paid in full by the employees hired under this formula. Employees hired on or after September 29, 2012 or "Classic" PERS members hired on or after January 1, 2013: On September 24, 2012, the IRWD Board of Directors approved the addition of a second tier to the CalPERS retirement benefits. New employees hired on or after September 29th through December 31, 2012, and employees hired on or after January 1, 2013 who have been in PERS membership or in membership with a reciprocal retirement system, will receive benefits under the California Public Employees Retirement System at 2 percent at age 60 formula. This formula gradually increases to a maximum benefit of 2.418% at age 63. Knowledge of the operation, methods and procedures of a wastewater treatment plant; knowledge of the machinery and process used for wastewater treatment and pumping stations; knowledge of mechanical equipment and the ability to diagnose and correct equipment malfunction; knowledge of basic machinery preventive maintenance and repair; knowledge of State and Federal regulations governing wastewater and worker’s safety; knowledge of laboratory procedures and terminology; knowledge of Chemistry Terminology. Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing; skill in solving complex problems independently; skill in operating, composite samplers, and various lab test equipment.
