Several full-time positions available with the Public Works Department, Capital Projects Division located at 4721 Coal Mine Road. Will be filled as either Engineering Technician Lead or Engineering Technician. S alary Range: Engineering Technician Lead: $18.24-$29.44/ hour; Engineering Technician: $16.64 -$26.86/hour Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. -4:00 p.m. Application Deadline Date: Open until filled *Employees who hold the exact position title, have successfully completed their 6-month probationary period, and wish to be considered for a lateral transfer into the posted position, must contact the department directly. Responsibilities Conducts field inspections according to Public Works' standard specifications and design criteria. Performs data entry and sends correspondence for capital and sidewalk construction projects. Provides technical evaluations of sidewalk construction, roadway construction, bridge construction, and quantity measurement. Evaluates sidewalks and curb ramps for ADA compliance and needed repairs. Communicates with internal and external customers. Performs snow removal on a residential snow route during winter months as needed. Qualifications Engineering Technician Lead REQUIRES high school graduation and 5 years of related and increasingly responsible experience in engineering drawing, mapping, automated mapping, GIS and equipment, CADD, engineering, land survey, construction inspection and related fields; OR high school graduation and 2 years of experience at the level of Engineering Technician and possession of either the Level II Certification as Associate Engineering Technician (AET) as issued by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), the Land Surveyor in Training as issued by the Missouri Board of Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Professional Landscape Architects or the Class B Wastewater Collections System Certification from the Missouri Water Environmental Association; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Engineering Technician REQUIRES high school graduation. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Preference given for construction inspection experience and/or an intermediate skill level in one or more of the following: MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and e-Builder.
