The Position The Mental Health Counselor - Licensed Preferred will be embedded within the Self Sufficiency Services Division (SSSD) of the Health and Human Services Agency. The position will be responsible for screening CalWORKs Welfare-to-Work (WTW) clients for mental health and alcohol and drug concerns and provide brief interventions as allowed by Welfare-to-Work and Mental Health regulations. The goal is to help WTW participants stabilize and develop healthy and appropriate coping skills to enable them to participate in the program, address barriers hindering them from reaching their employment and housing goals, and if beneficial and/or necessary, bridge them to more long-term mental health services.
