The position p erforms journey-level sheet metal installation, fabrication, assembly and repair work. Positions allocable to this class typically report to a Sheet Metal Supervisor and uses a variety of hand tools and power equipment in the installation, fabrication, assembly and repair of sheet metal articles and equipment. The position p erforms journey-level sheet metal installation, fabrication, assembly and repair work. Positions allocable to this class typically report to a Sheet Metal Supervisor and uses a variety of hand tools and power equipment in the installation, fabrication, assembly and repair of sheet metal articles and equipment. Essential Job Functions Essential Job Functions: Installs and maintains chain link and wrought iron fencing. Installs and repairs hollow metal steel doors and door accessories. Performs preventative maintenance on exhaust fans. Operates Sheet Metal shop machinery (i.e. shears, breaks, iron worker, notcher, drill press, welders, etc.). Works with other crafts on the installation and repair of Sheet Metal articles. Fabricates or repairs such sheet metal articles as roofing, gutters, flashing, louvers, ventilators, ducts, hoods, sinks, steam tables, trays, lockers, shelves, fire doors and metal windows. Fabricates signs, ducts, vessels, etc., from sheet metal.
