Position Description The City of Tacomais looking for a visionary Training and Development Manager to develop a new approachin "training and development" to enhance our culture and develop the workforce of the third largest City in Washington State. The Training and Development Manager will have a heavy emphasis on program development within a complex organizational environment with multiple stakeholders and competing demands. Far beyond developing individual training solutions, this individualwill beresponsible for developing a complex portfolio of solutions including on-site and off-site trainings, administrative systems, and non-training development opportunities for a diverse workforce of nearly 4,000 employees spread geographically and across a variety of service areas. Evaluating current programs, procedures, and practices to champion a diverse and inclusive learning program that equitably distributes learning resources and opportunities to staff. Working with other training-providing workgroups throughout the organization to provide strategic, logistical, and administrative support of decentralized training offerings Partner with training reps, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to develop an organizational approach and structure to the overall portfolio of trainings offered by the City - centrally, by subject matter experts, and procured by individual departments and workgroups. Streamlining administrative processes such as training nominations and regular reporting through the use of existing technology and exploring future enhancements (such as implementing an LMS) Seeking out and recommending alternative training methods, technology, and best practices for making training efficient and accessible to staff and adaptable to different styles of learning. Managing the training budget and tracking expenditures. Contracting with vendors and identifying internal resources to offer onsite trainings. Managing the Citywide Tuition Reimbursement Program.
