Work collaboratively with staff to implement a comprehensive Trauma Informed approach to address both preventative and responsive measures for incarcerated residents.
Lead the implementation of a Trauma Informed culture transformation for incarcerated residents in the Department of Corrections.
Ensure the implementation, adherence and fidelity of Trauma Informed practices, models and interventions across the system.
Stay informed of current trends in Trauma Informed care and develop Trauma Informed policies and practices for incarcerated residents, as a result.
Develop the goals and objectives related to Trauma Informed care for incarcerated residents.
Track and analyze departmental data relevant to Trauma Informed outcomes for residents.
Serve as the Trauma Informed Care content expert, specific to the incarcerated population.
Engage all Divisions of the Department to plan and implement best practices in the field of Trauma Informed care, specific to those incarcerated, and to ensure the development and implementation of Trauma Informed policies and practices.
Develop long-range strategic plans for implementing a Trauma Informed culture, within the institution, at the Department of Corrections.
Develop communication strategies and plans for various stakeholders about the incarcerated resident Trauma Informed transformation process.
Responsible for directing, evaluating, and providing Trauma Informed expertise and feedback to staff from all Divisions who participate in the operations of resident management.
Will encourage and facilitate an environment in Corrections that alleviates stigma related to mental health issues and treatment and promotes positive organizational change.
Collaborate and serve as liaison with consultants and/other State Agencies that have Trauma Informed initiatives and programs.
Minimum Qualifications: Four or more years of professional or higher-level experience in psychology, social work, counseling, education, or similar level experience working in trauma informed care.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills: - A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a compatible field (psychology, social work, counseling, or education).
- Master's degree in compatible field.
- Trauma informed certification preferred.
- Prefer individuals with high degree of cultural competence, diverse groups, understanding of historical trauma, lived experience, and background in Trauma Informed care.
- Must be able to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends on occasion.
- Must be free of alcohol and chemical dependency.
- Must have good written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to develop and comfortably deliver presentations.
- Must maintain agency confidentiality.
All requested documents MUST be received by the closing date listed. Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:
- A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
- A $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend if you work full-time at a qualifying facility.
- A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.
The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years!
