Skilled work maintaining and repairing boilers by removing scale from boiler tubes, replacing fire brick, and related work
Repairs/maintains boilers and related equipment such as feed water pumps/circulating pumps/valves and regulators/steam and water lines; repairs/replaces steam and water lines, unions, regulators, strainers, steam traps, and related equipment; replaces seals and gaskets in a variety of power plant equipment; tests and monitors the water treatment system of high pressure boilers; maintains/repairs electrical and/or electronic components such as replacing parts in control panels, repairing broken wires and related work
Reads sketches and diagrams in performing maintenance and repair work; instructs and oversees the work of assigned assistants in the maintenance and repair of boilers and related equipment; operates power lathes/drill presses/threading machines/power saws/grinding machines; performs related work as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: Four years of experience, on-the-job training or apprenticeship in one or a combination of the maintenance trades including or supplemented by one year of experience in skilled maintenance and repair of boilers and related equipment;
AND completion of the eighth school grade
(Post-secondary training in an accredited vocational training school in the mechanical or maintenance trades may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the general experience)
All requested documents MUST be received by the closing date listed. Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:
- A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
- A $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend if you work full-time at a qualifying facility.
- A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.
The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years!
