    We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Service Worker to join our team! This position plays a vital role in delivering healthy, high-quality meals to our preschool students and supporting a positive, caring dining experience every day. As a Food Service Worker, you’ll help prepare and serve nutritious meals that fuel learning and growth for our youngest students. If you’re ready to make a meaningful difference, we’d love to hear from you! Our ideal candidate You are a caring person with a basic knowledge of food preparation and safety who enjoys children and is eager to learn from them and staff. You are able to follow directions, work collaboratively with other staff, and communicate well orally and in writing with children and staff. General description This individual prepares, serves, and records meals and snacks from a planned menu for those enrolled in preschool programs to ensure the provision of nutritious foods that contribute to the wellness, healthy growth, and development of young children. This individual is also responsible for preserving clean areas for food handling and sanitizing food preparation equipment and dishes in accordance with CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) guidelines.     SBCEO is one of 58 county offices in California. County offices support local school districts by providing services that can be delivered more efficiently and economically at the county level. These include implementing new standards, staff development and training programs; fiscal support for districts including payroll; designing business and personnel systems; and performing many other services to meet the changing needs of local school districts. County offices of education also provide a wide range of instructional programs, including special education, early childhood education, career and technical education, programs for youth at risk, and instruction in juvenile detention facilities.   

    The Santa Barbara County Education Office (SBCEO) is an intermediate agency between the California State Department of Education and the 20 school districts that are located within the county's boundaries. Our mission is to provide service and leadership for students, educators, school districts, and finance.  

    SBCEO student services include Special Education Programs, Child Development and Early Education Programs, Children's Creative Project, Transitional Youth Services, Juvenile Court and Community Schools, Migrant Education, Nurses and Psychologists, and Regional Occupational Program and Career Technical Education.  

    Teacher and administrator services include Credential Services, Educational Technology Services, Peer Assistance and Review Program, Professional Development and technical assistance, Teacher Induction Program, teacher support and recognition programs, classified employee recognition programs, and technology training.  

    SBCEO special programs include Author-Go-Round, Battle of the Books, Breakfast with the Authors, CATCH, Children and Family Resource Services, Computers for Families, County Spelling Bee, I Madonnari Italian Street Painting Festival, Industry-Education Councils, Mock Trial, Partners In Education volunteer coordination program, Public Health/School Nurse Partnership, Retirement counseling for STRS members, Showcase of Innovative Learning, Tobacco Use Prevention Education, THRIVE Guadalupe, and Welcome Every Baby.
