What You'll Be DoingAs a Staffing Specialist for the Wake County Board of Elections, you’ll play a critical role in supporting the largest election staffing operation in the state. You will help assign, track and communicate with more than 10,000 Election Officials to ensure 216 Election Day polling places and up to 30 Early Voting sites are properly staffed with trained volunteers. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on public service, working in fast-paced environments and developing innovative solutions to solve problems. You’ll assist with scheduling assignments, maintain accurate records in our staffing database and support Election Officials via email, phone and in-person contact. Whether you’re fielding last-minute staffing changes, preparing mass communications to our assigned volunteers or helping an Election Official get ready for their assignment, you’ll be a vital link in ensuring all voting locations are staffed with sufficient, well-trained volunteers.
What You Will be Doing as a Board of Elections Staffing Specialist: - Recruit and staff Election Officials to work at Wake County’s 216 Election Day polling places and up to 30 Early Voting sites
- Assist in the development of recruitment materials, such as videos, flyers, tear-off pads, and brochures
- Develop and send surveys to a pool of 10,000+ active Election Officials to gauge their availability for upcoming elections and to receive feedback from their experience working previous elections
- Work with Wake County political parties in odd numbered years to coordinate the appointment of Election Officials
- Register Election Officials for their required training through a learning management system
- Record Election Official attendance at in-person training classes
- Compile a pay report for 2,500+ Election Officials at the conclusion of each election
- Coordinate with the Wake County Finance Department to process Election Official taxpayer identification and direct deposit forms
- Coordinate with a temporary staffing agency to compile and process weekly timesheets for Early Voting workers
- Provide customer service to current and prospective Election Officials over the phone, through e-mail and in-person
- Assist in maintaining accuracy of Election Official information in internal databases by performing weekly data audits
- Review and process applications submitted by prospective Election Officials
- Recruit and schedule members to visit assisted living facilities for voter registration and absentee ballot assistance
- Assist in various election events, such as board meetings, recounts, post-election reconciliation, Election Day and Early Voting Support Help Lines, etc.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - High School Diploma or GED
- Two years experience
- Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Experience managing customer data within a CRM-style database
- Experience providing customer service in-person, over the phone and e-mail
