    Summary

    ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
    The Information Technology Department supports the organization’s technology needs and provides leadership for future solutions. Deschutes County IT manages systems and infrastructure, and provides stable, secure, and reliable technical support services to County staff and clients. The department includes 22 employees and partners with other technical staff throughout the County. The department is dedicated to enhancing security, efficiency, and productivity and provides everything from phone support to application integration.

    ABOUT THE JOB:

    You will have the opportunity to lead and contribute to the administration and support of Microsoft 365 cloud infrastructure, driving collaboration and integration efforts within Deschutes County, Oregon. You'll manage security, compliance, and data governance, serve as a project manager for Microsoft 365 initiatives, and provide technical support and training. You'll also be tasked with automating administration tasks, performing system audits, and collaborating with IT, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with county goals. Additionally, your role includes staying informed about the latest Microsoft 365 updates and industry’s best practices. You will be joining a collaborative, fun, and driven team that aims to improve technology services to our County.

    Typical work hours are 8am to 5pm with some flexibility around those hours.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • M365 Administration and Leadership: Your core responsibility will be to manage and support the Microsoft cloud infrastructure and apps, their integration, and effective deployment and use throughout the county. You will be overseeing the compliance, security, and proactive management of new features and their alignment with our County strategic goals.
    • Project Management: Act as the Project Manager for Microsoft 365-related projects, coordinating initiatives across departments, applying project management frameworks, and ensuring successful implementation and adoption of Microsoft 365 solutions.
    • Technical Support and Governance : Provide technical support and training to end-users and IT Helpdesk, implement and manage data governance and retention policies, and conduct regular audits to maintain optimal system performance and compliance.

    What You Will Bring:
    Knowledge of or experience with:
    • Microsoft Cloud expertise.
    • Scripting (specifically PowerShell) and Automation.
    • Hybrid and On-premises infrastructure.
    • ITIL 4.0.
    Skill in:
    • Technical design, troubleshooting, and problem solving effectively through PowerShell and automation mindset.
    • Security and compliance as it relates to Microsoft 365.
    • Project management with effective communication, planning, prioritizing, and execution.

    Compensation

    $7,298.09 to $9,780.12 for a 172.67 hour work month. Excellent County benefit package when eligible. This position is available immediately.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in IT, cloud computing, or related field;
    • AND four (4) years of experience in administering and supporting a cloud environment;
    • OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Microsoft 365 Certified Enterprise Administrator Expert: While a foundational certification (MS-900) is required, possessing advanced certifications like MS-100 and MS-101 Enterprise Administrator Expert is preferred to demonstrate deeper expertise.
    • Project Management Experience: Proven track record in managing IT projects, particularly within the context of implementing and optimizing Microsoft 365 solutions, showcasing effective coordination and leadership skills in technical projects.
    • ITIL 4.0 Knowledge: Familiarity with ITIL 4.0 principles and practices, indicating an understanding of modern IT service management frameworks to enhance service delivery and support processes.


    Necessary Special Requirements

    The employment offer will be contingent upon pre-employment screening for criminal history and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). These screenings must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.

    • Microsoft Certification related to this role required: Microsoft 365 Certified (minimum MS-900 Fundamentals. MS-100/MS-101 Enterprise Administrator Expert preferred).
