    Introduction

    This transfer opportunity is open to current San Joaquin County employees to fill a vacancy on the County's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Implementation Team. This team is tasked with implementing the Workday ERP Finance and Human Capital systems and this position will support Financials.

    To be eligible, applicants must be current employees of San Joaquin County and meet the transfer criteria outlined in Civil Service Rule 11 - Transfers.

    Key Responsibilities:
    Initially this position will assist other County Functional Leads on the project with implementation tasks of Workday Financials. The ideal candidate would have experience in one or both of the areas below: Procurement/inventory areas (e.g., requisitions, purchase orders, supplier contracts, inventory, etc.). Cost accounting areas (e.g., project accounting, grant accounting, activity-based costing, etc.). The specific areas assigned will be matched to the skillsets of the selected candidate, but it may include areas outside of the person’s area of expertise. The selected candidate will actively be participating in the following tasks: Assist with testing Workday configuration, custom reports and/or integrations. Communicate results verbally and in writing, provide documentation of testing results. Based on testing results, conduct additional research as needed, assist with making decisions on changes in configuration and/or making the actual configuration change itself. Based on system testing results, assist with design changes to custom reports and/or integrations. No programming skills are required for this position. All changes to custom reports and/or integrations will be completed by the Integrator (Guidehouse) or the County Technical Team. Retest Workday configuration, custom reports and/or integrations after any changes are made. Verify data in the Workday tenant though the use of formulas and other methods. Assist with department training, including preparing training materials (e.g., job aids, exercises, instructional videos, etc.) and possibly serve as an instructor for some courses. Eventually, this position will take on lead responsibilities for key areas of the implementation. This will occur once this position is fully trained on Workday and understands their assigned area(s) of responsibility. Training will be a combination of formal Workday training courses (which will be attended virtually) and on-the-job training. Once this occurs, this position will also be expected to facilitate meetings with other subject matter experts at the County and perform demonstrations. Provide long-term Workday post-production support in their respective area(s) of responsibility. This will include the following activities: Assist with evaluating and testing Workday releases that will occur twice a year. Assist department users with resolving system usage issues, security access, system bugs, etc. Assist with Workday enhancements to make changes to the existing configuration and/or to rollout new functionality. Assist with the ongoing training of new employees, job changes, etc., in a remote or in-person environment. Reinforce the use of best practices in Workday and accounting. Assist with building and testing custom reports (which will not require programming skills). Learn another areas of Workday to serve as a backup. Support change management efforts with departments in both verbal and written communication. May assist the Change Management Lead as needed.

    Depending on prior experience, the selected candidate may assist in processing financial transactions or participating in monthly/quarterly/annual processes for the ACO - ERP Support budget unit.
    Information regarding this transfer opportunity:

    • Applicants who meet Civil Service Rule 11 requirements and demonstrate competency that aligns with the project responsibilities will be invited to participate in a selection interview.
    • The selected candidate will transfer to the ERP team in their current job classification and will maintain their current salary.
    • This position is eligible for a 5% supplemental Special Assignment Pay.

    Section 2. Eligibility to Transfer for Interdepartment Transfer

    To be eligible for transfer to a class at the same salary range, the employee must meet the following standards:

    a. Meet the minimum qualifications of the class.

    b. Meet one of the following requirements for permanent status:

    1) hold permanent Civil Service Status in the present class,

    2) have 12 months' continuous probationary service in San Joaquin County, or

    3) have held permanent Civil Service status during current term of service with San Joaquin County,

    4) be laid off from a civil service classification with less than 12 continuous and Consecutive months in classified service

    c. Have a rating of satisfactory or better on the last performance evaluation. Names of employees approved for such transfer shall be maintained, without rank, in a transfer request file.
