Job Summary Initializes, nurtures, maintains, and manages relationships with Bryan Texas Utilities ( BTU ) commercial customers through dedicated account management. Serves as a subject matter expert on distributed energy resources (DERs). This role will support large commercial and industrial customers through the interconnection process for major load additions and distributed generation, while ensuring all applicable rates, policies, and system impacts are fully considered and communicated.
Essential Job Functions - Serves as the primary point of contact for BTU’s commercial accounts, providing comprehensive account management and ongoing support.
- Consults with commercial customers on energy consumption and service delivery.
- Establishes and maintains lasting relationships with commercial customers. Helps resolve issues related to all services.
- Recommends updates to programs, policies, and other customer offerings as technology, market conditions and other related variables change.
- Provides technical and financial analysis of electric rate options, including modeling the impact of DERs, time-of-use, demand charges, and energy storage on customer bills.
- Serves as the primary liaison for large commercial and industrial customers planning significant new or expanded electric loads, ensuring timely coordination with internal engineering and planning teams.
- Guides customers through the interconnection process for distributed energy resources (DERs), including reviewing applications, explaining technical requirements, and ensuring compliance with BTU standards.
- Assists with rate design, contract management, and financial settlements for large load customers as needed.
- Markets value-added services to residential customers as needed.
- Collaborates with engineering, operations, and regulatory teams to evaluate and respond to emerging industry trends.
- Promotes customer education of BTU , energy efficiency and electric related topics at all customer levels.
- Conducts detailed electric rate comparisons and assist with developing contract rates.
- Provides education/information on BTU programs, rate options, demand response, distributed generation, and energy efficiency technologies.
- Proactively identifies customer needs and recommends BTU solutions that support reliability, cost savings, and sustainability.
- Collaborates with engineering, billing, and customer service teams to resolve service concerns and implement tailored solutions.
- Monitors and reports on legislative issues that impact the electric or municipal government industry.
- Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in Business, Management, Finance, Economics, Energy Management, Engineering, or a similar field of study plus at least four (4) years of work experience in account management, sales, and/or customer service; OR a Master’s plus at least two (2) years of experience as previously listed.
- Experience in an energy-related field is preferred, but not required.
Equivalent combinations of related education, experience, and training may be considered.
Licenses, Certifications & Special Requirements Texas Class C driver’s license with a good driving record as measured by the City’s evaluation system.
