If so, bring your expertise to our renowned EMS department as the EMS Assistant Chief of Logistics. In this vital role, you will oversee our Logistics Team and manage supplies and resources to ensure the Operations Team is always mission-ready. Your work will play a vital role in safeguarding the health and well-being of the community we serve.

    Essential Functions:
    • Perform the selection and procurement of all EMS system medical supplies, pharmaceuticals and other business materials
    • Oversee the storage and stocking of supplies at the EMS warehouse and the distribution of those supplies to EMS stations throughout the county
    • Provide subject matter expert advice on inventory and supply chain management
    • Lead, direct and review the work of Logistics Team members
    • Collaborate and partner with the Wake County Fire Services and other fire departments on first responder supplies and equipment
    • Participate on multi-departmental teams, both internal and external to Wake County, on product selection
    • Stay current with industry trends and explore ways to effectively apply new supplies to the EMS System that make meaningful changes in patient outcomes
    • Supervise staff working shift work, including weekends, and must be available to support the work group as needed

    Wake County EMS is a cutting-edge emergency medical services system that is responsible for providing EMS services throughout Wake County including within each of the county’s 12 local municipalities. We have well-developed mobile integrated health (community paramedicine) and research programs. We responded to over 140,000 requests for 911 EMS services in 2024. The EMS Assistant Chief of Logistics is part of the Support Services Team. We provide direction, support and planning on all aspects of system logistics, ensuring that our field staff and fleet are equipped to meet the critical needs of the EMS System.

    The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

    • Bachelor's degree
    • Five years experience in the area of Emergency Medical Services, Administration, or warehouse and inventory control processes
    • Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record
    • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

    Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

    • Master’s in EMS, Business Administration or related field
    • NC EMS Credential (EMT, AEMT or Paramedic)
    • Experience overseeing warehousing, inventory control and material handling processes
    • Experience with inventory management systems
    • Experience with the management and storage of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals
    • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with external vendors/suppliers
    • Forklift certification
    • Medically cleared as a Paramedic in the Wake County EMS System
    • Experience working with Operative IQ Back Office
    • Experience working with vendors in a government procurement role including experience with RFI, RFP, RFB, and RFQ processes as well as 3PL carriers
    • Experience operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment
    • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement processes

    Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 0800 - 1700 hours with extended hours during emergency events.

    Hiring Range: 92,603.00 - 125,015.00

    Market Range: 92,603.00 - 157,424.00

    Emergency Service Worker Statement
