    Job Summary

    Performs specialized work involved in the paraprofessional delivery of emergency medical services and transportation of ill or injured persons to medical facilities, as may be required. Must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgement, along with the proper application of medical protocols and adherence to established performance standards. Work is performed under the general supervision of the EMS Supervisor.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Civilian Paramedic:

    Salary $22.61- $28.83
    High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class "E" Driver's License and a current Florida Paramedic Certification as a requirement of continued employment. Must pass a background check which includes a polygraph.

    Civilian EMT:

    Salary $20.28- $25.86

    High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class "E" Driver's License and a current State of Florida EMT Certification as a requirement of continued employment. Must pass a background check which includes a polygraph.

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
