    Position Description

    The City of Tacoma Information Technology department is hiring a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our dynamic team as an IT Analyst (Application Development Systems Analyst, ADSA). This position will participate in the growth, enhancement, and maintenance of the City’s Accela Civic Platform enterprise-wide software application used for permitting and inspections. Success in this position requires the ability to work in a team setting, multi-task, and deploy excellent communication skills when working with both business process owners and team members.

    Responsibilities:
    • Analyzing technical and business requirements as compared to the Accela system capabilities
    • Build and maintain configurations in the Accela Civic Platform and other associated 3 rd party software
    • Participate in research and suggest alternatives to improve performance, increase productivity and efficiency, and preserve system integrity
    • Develop and maintain documentation and technical blueprints which provide the basis for development
    • Design and implement custom queries to extract Accela data into reports primarily using Crystal Reports
    • Participate in some custom application development using APIs
    • Provide technical support to end users


    Qualifications

    An equivalent combination to:
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field

      OR
    • Associate's degree in computer science and at least two years of directly related information technology work experience


    LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    Some positions may require a valid Washington State Driver's License at time of appointment with maintenance thereafter.

    Some positions may require incumbents to successfully pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background check

    Positions assigned to the Tacoma Police Department may require additional background checks which may include fingerprinting and/or a polygraph test.

    Other Employment Information

    Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.

    Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
