Why you’ll love this position: Missouri Assistive Technology (MoAT), the federally funded Assistive Technology Act Program for Missouri, operates within the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. MoAT is seeking a dynamic and skilled assistant director to lead programs and initiatives that improve access to assistive technology (AT) for individuals with disabilities.
- Program Administration: This position has primary responsibility for overseeing the device loan program and administration of the assistive technology reimbursement program, with opportunities to administer additional programs and services based on skill and agency need.
- Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders, including committees, state and school personnel, employers, and nonprofit organizations, to implement AT programs effectively.
- Information and Assistance: Provide guidance to consumers, businesses, healthcare providers, and agencies to enhance their understanding of AT resources and access to AT solutions.
- Compliance & Reporting: Monitor program expenditures, ensure adherence to state and federal requirements, and prepare reports for federal performance reviews.
- Data Management: Analyze program data to track progress, identify needs, and implement improvements for enhanced service delivery.
- Special Projects: Lead initiatives related to the federal Assistive Technology Act.
- Training & Presentations: Develop and deliver presentations on AT topics to diverse audiences through in-person and virtual methods.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.
Minimum Qualifications:● Bachelor’s degree in special education, allied health, rehabilitation, or a related field. Expertise in AT solutions, such as augmentative communication devices, computer adaptations, reading/writing aids, low-vision tools, home access modifications, hearing related assistive technology and vehicle access modifications or conversions.
OR ● Four or more years of professional or technical experience in assistive technology services or related disability services. Job-based experience in identifying, explaining and applying AT solutions to individuals with various disabilities and of all ages. Experience coordinating multiple aspects of a program, including application processing, client communication, and reporting.
