About the PositionJefferson County is seeking a Project Management Fellow to support the planning, execution, and delivery of strategic initiatives focused on business process improvement and the adoption of emerging technologies. The Fellow will apply project management principles to define scope, manage stakeholders, control schedules and budgets, and ensure successful implementation of projects. This position reports to the IT Project Management Office Manager.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong competencies in project integration, communication, stakeholder engagement, and risk management. A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and the ability to navigate ambiguity with creativity and adaptability are essential .
SCHEDULE:This position operates on our four-day work week (Monday-Thursday).
This limited position is hybrid, with remote work and in-office work as determined by business need.
COMPENSATION: Hiring Range: $29.00 - $33.00 USD Hourly
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.
BENEFITS:The employment status is Limited (Fixed-Term) and is expected to last for one year from the hiring date.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Specifically, the Fellow should expect to:
- Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables; develop and manage project charters, plans, and schedules
- Coordinate cross-functional project teams by assigning responsibilities, allocating resources, and maintaining efficient workflows
- Lead stakeholder and team communications, facilitating meetings and providing technical guidance to resolve issues
- Manage project change requests and assess their impact on scope, timeline, cost, and resources
- Identify and escalate project risks and obstacles; develop mitigation strategies as needed
- Prepare and maintain clear, accessible project documentation for all stakeholders
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Professional DevelopmentThe Jefferson County Innovation Fellowship program is designed to provide talented individuals with an opportunity to gain practical and diverse real-world experience in government innovation. Fellows learn about the inner workings of county government and make a difference in the community through meaningful projects. Fellows will interact with senior leaders, attend high level meetings, and will be exposed to the responsibilities and challenges of multiple departments.
Additionally, Fellows can expect:

About You:We’re looking for an organized problem-solver to jump in and contribute to our department initiatives.
Generally, we’re looking for candidates with the following experiences, skills, and/or interests:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- Interest in the intersection of technology and how organizations deliver high quality services.
- Interest in and experience facilitating events and presentations
- Interest and experience recruiting and coaching staff or volunteers
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Adaptable as both a supportive team player and leader

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Note an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Management, or related field.
- At least 1 year of professional work experience in a role that involved business process analysis and/or project management
- Certifications in process analysis or project management concepts (e.g., Six Sigma, CAPM, CSM)
- Proficient with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a complex organization.
- Ability to effectively manage internal and external partner relationships
