Department/Division: Full-time position available with the Water Department, Wastewater Treatment Division located at 7300 Hawthorne Rd
Salary Range: $29.98-$44.97/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: 6:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Directly supervises employees carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Supervises and coordinates activities of Maintenance Electricians engaged in construction, maintenance and repair of electrical power, lighting and communication systems of treatment plant, pump station and associated equipment by performing essential duties and responsibilities.
- Directs workers in electrical maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
- Plans wiring and installation of equipment and fixtures such as motors, generators, switches, circuit breakers and fuse boxes.
- Inspects wiring and fixtures for conformance to company specifications or local electrical codes.
- Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Interprets specifications, blueprints and job orders to workers and assigns duties.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Recommends measures to improve repair methods, equipment performance and quality of repair.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase safety and efficiency of shop, department or work crew.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Maintains time and attendance records.
- Confers with planners and other supervisors to coordinate activities.
- Performs activities of workers supervised.
- Coordinates with vendors and contractors.
Qualifications
REQUIRES high school graduation and 5 years experience in mechanical and trades maintenance and repair with 1 year experience at the level of the City's Maintenance Mechanic. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
Preference given to applicants with a valid Class A CDL and experience in Generators and Industrial Electrical and Medium Voltage Switchgear experience. Other Information

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
