DescriptionThe City of Forney is seeking a Special Events Coordinator. This role is under general supervision and responsible for planning, organizing, and managing special City events.

- Coordinates with local organizations and city departments for the use of city property for special events; accepts and approves applications; participates in event planning; enforces policies and procedures; monitors event preparations and clean-up.
- Plans, markets, and coordinates city events, including amphitheater, parks, and downtown events, and evaluates previous events for areas of improvement.
- Markets events through press releases, flyers, banners, social media, City websites, the news media, and other mediums; maintains updated event information on City websites and social media; responds to questions, concerns, and requests from the public concerning special events.
- Prepares and submits event budgets; completes and submits required license applications; processes invoices, and codes to correct accounts, and maintains files and records.
- Researches locates, and books local, regional, or national talent for performances; recruits sponsors for events and performances; coordinates with vendors for event needs and supplies.
- Attends City Council, Parks and Recreation Board, and Planning and Zoning Board meetings as required.
- Maintains inventory for the amphitheater; orders new supplies and equipment as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: No direct supervision exercised; may exercise occasional administrative and functional supervision for specified activities.
Minimum Qualifications- Possess a valid driver's license
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
- Three (3) years experience in event coordination, marketing, or a related field.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:- Standard office environment; occasional exposure to outdoor environments.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.

- $6,000 Deductible HSA Plan (up to a $3,000 HRA reimbursement + HSA City Contributions)

Life Insurance
Basic group life insurance protection is provided to eligible full-time employees in the amount of two times the annual salary as recorded at the beginning of each year.

Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS)
All employees appointed to positions designated to work 1,000 hours or more per year must participate in the Texas Municipal Retirement System. TMRS is a qualified tax deferred retirement plan under Section 401 of the IRS. Seven percent of gross earnings are deducted each payroll as a pre-tax deduction and deposited into the member account. When an employee becomes vested and retires, the city provides 2-to-1 matching contributions.
