    Summary

    The purpose of this position is to manage the Aquatics Division including the staff, facility, and related programs. This position is responsible for program and facility promotion, facility rentals, facility maintenance, providing a comprehensive budget preparation and implementation, revenue enhancement, and patron safety.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for user health and safety by overseeing all maintenance that is needed to ensure proper functioning of the aquatics facilities. Utilizes available resources to attain appropriate levels of service in maintenance, cleanliness, and contractual services. Works with staff to ensure their understanding of departmental expectations.


    • Provides an exemplary level of customer service including communicating directly with patrons to resolve problems/issues, and fostering internal/external contacts and relations.


    • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment. Maintains logs and records as necessary. Implements and enforces facility rules.


    • Oversees rentals and reservations at the aquatics facility, communicates facility policies and procedures to staff and patrons, and promotes facility to patrons and potential patrons.


    • Develops proposals and concepts that will enhance programing and works with staff to provide a variety of classes, programs, and events. Ensures quality contract instructors are available to reflect the City’s overall goal of customer service and satisfaction; regularly reviews policies, procedures, and protocols and recommends modifications as needed.


    • Responsible for creating an atmosphere that draws individual patrons and groups for repeat visits and rentals.


    • Responsible for Division budget and overall cash handling including budget review and recommendation. Prepares and solicits quotes and bids from vendors for supplies and maintenance services or repairs; awards quotes and bids to vendors based on city policies.


    • Hires and supervises personnel by advertising and recruiting for applicants, interviewing and evaluating candidates, and training employees.


    • Responsible for viewing, editing, and approving personnel time on a weekly basis.


    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Supervises staff, programs, and facilities including communicating, training, and evaluation;

    designs, implements and monitors programs and events; oversees and provides leadership in customer service relations.

    Education and/or Experience

    Degree in Recreation with 3 years supervisory experience, with preference in the field of aquatics. OR equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field. Experience directing special events, and aquatics programs. Ability to pass and maintain Aquatic Facility Operator or Certified Pool Operator certifications within 6 months of start date.

    Valid Class C Driver’s License
    American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
    Water Safety Instructor
    Certification Certified Lifeguard/CPR/FA Instructor
    Certified Pool Operator/Aquatic Facility Operator
    Current CPR Card
