    We're looking for a Support Care Assistant to join our team of nurses who help provide one-on-one care for our consumers. A successful candidate has previous experience working with the developmentally disabled, a strong work ethic and an active interest in helping to care for our consumers. It is often said that there is no greater satisfaction than working directly with our consumers, and this is absolutely true. It's extremely rewarding, since many of our consumers are living well.

    Shifts include: 9:00 am - 9:00 pm, 9:00 pm - 9:00 am, with mandatory overtime as required in order to meet the needs of the facility.

    • Hands-on, direct care to clients including observations, treatment, and monitoring.
    • Direct care staff, employees routinely responsible for providing services to clients and ensuring their safety and security and implementing habilitation/treatment activities.
    • First-level direct care services to include assisting consumers with activities of daily living skills, such as meal planning, providing medication assistance, transportation, finger stick assistance, glucose monitoring, household task.
    • Participating in implementing and conducting planned sessions of individual or group treatment activities in physical therapy, activity therapy, education, vocational rehabilitation, and related areas.
    • Develop and/or implement habilitation or treatment plans.
    • Observing, reporting, and recording changes in the physical condition, behavioral response, and emotional status of clients.
    • Maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for client care and treatment activities.
    • Assist and/or provide basic health care for clients, such as checking vital signs and height/weight.
    • Performing moderately complex duties without detailed instruction; Performs other related work as assigned.
    • Reporting to work on time and as scheduled.
    • Working overtime as needed to retain adequate staffing.
    • Requires heavy lifting up to 50 pounds and the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
    • Direct care staff will be required to demonstrate that they can meet the physical requirements of the essential functions of CPR and aggressive behavior management interventions during initial training and subsequent refresher or re-certification training.
    • Teach or assist in developing client skills related to self-help, play, education, and socialization.
    • Collects and maintains records of fluid intake and output, and reports on condition of clients.
    • May perform internal environment of care checks or perform some security-related functions in a mental health care setting.
    • Maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for client care and treatment activities.
    • Will be responsible for passing medications (as medication aide) after certification by facility officials.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    • Must be at least 18 years old.
    • Must have a valid driver license.
    • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
    • 1 year of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed).
    • Possess adequate vision to read written material.
    • Possess adequate hearing.
    • Knowledge of the general care and treatment of clients, including basic nursing, first aid and emergency treatments. Ability to work with clients with physical or mental illness, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or the geriatric populations. Ability to perform first aid and emergency treatments as instructed.
    • Ability to perform first aid and emergency treatments as instructed.
    • Must be able to successfully pass Level One Medication Aide certification within one (1) month of assignment, or longer if training by facility is not made available during that time.
    • Must pass a background screening.
