    Staff Development Training Specialist

    Job Location: This position is located at the Broadway State Office Building; 221 West High Street, Jefferson City, MO.

    The Human Resource Center is looking for an experienced trainer to join our team. The Human Resource Center plans, develops, and implements statewide human resource programs, providing leadership, direction, and coordination of related services and support department wide.

    This is a professional training and development position accountable for developing and delivering training programs (complete with materials, tutorials, instructions, and learning resources such as online modules and guides) , administering assessments and certification requirements, providing coaching, and ensuring knowledge transfer. This trainer will train all levels of DSS staff in areas such as leadership development, professional development, safety training, CPR-AED, First Aid, e-learning and continuous improvement.

    What you’ll do:

    Plan, design, develop, market, schedule and deliver training content.

    Assist with the implementation of human resource initiatives; establish and interpret training policies and procedures; formulate recommendations that provide effective staff training and professional development; and ensure department compliance with the Leadership Development Rule.

    Identify training needs, help establish priorities and direct or coordinate training efforts

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel, Canva, Kahoot!, Poll Everywhere, Webex and Teams.

    • Comfortable speaking publicly for in-person and virtual presentations.

    • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

    • Experience and knowledge of training methods and techniques.

    • A passion for continuous learning.

    • Exceptional listening and team collaboration skills.

    • Experience with formal training and/or educating adult learners.

    Special Requirements:

    • Possess a valid driver’s license.

    • Ability to drive and travel throughout the state of Missouri including when occasional overnight stays two to three days a week to conduct training and attend meetings.

    • Ability to conduct training sessions that last up to 8 hours.

    • Ability to carry up to 40 pounds of training equipment/materials.
