    Introduction

    The City of Scottsdale is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive ADA/Title VI Compliance Coordinator to lead efforts in ensuring access to city programs, services, facilities, and public rights of way. This role serves as primary point of contact for all matters related to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The ADA/Title VI Compliance Coordinator monitors compliance with state and federal laws, completes required reporting documentation, manages public inquiries, supports interdepartmental collaboration and oversees key initiatives such as the ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan. This is a crucial role in fostering a proactive approach to accessibility and legal compliance.

    Anticipated starting salary may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The midpoint salary is $86,969.60 annually.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, Urban Planning or related field from an accredited educational institution.
    • Two years of full-time professional level experience investigating ADA compliance issues, disability advocacy, Title VI and/or related experience.
    • Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

    Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
    • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona. Note: A Graduated Driver's License is considered restricted.
    • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

    Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/services assignment.

    Essential Functions

    Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area within a department(s) which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
    • Serves as technical resource and the primary point of contact for Title VI and ADA related issues, including the monitoring of the ADA Hotlines (voice & TDD) and e-mail inbox.
    • Monitors the city’s compliance with related Federal and State regulations.
    • Acts as a liaison to other divisions, the public, outside agencies, organizations and companies regarding disability related issues and concerns.
    • Updates and maintains the database of projects and complaints received by staff regarding city facilities.
    • Oversees the efforts of the consultant to complete the update to the city’s ADA Transition Plan.
    • Analyzes impacts to city policies and communicates potential issues to staff.
    • Organizes regular staff training on ADA and Title VI requirements; encourages a proactive environment in Scottsdale.

    • Work is performed in a city office environment, with occasional site visits and may have the opportunity to remote work.
    • Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer terminal, telephone, calculator, requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand and eye movement .
    • Travel and perform site inspections in various locations.

    PLEASE NOTE: Years of experience are based on a work schedule of 2,080 hours per year for full-time positions and 1,040 hours per year for part-time positions, and while work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis, depending upon the job classification, education may not be substituted for work experience.
