EMERGENCY SERVICES INTERN-PUBLIC SAFETYDepartment: Public Safety AdministrationPay Grade: Temporary Pay TableFLSA Status: Non-ExemptPersonnel Status: Temporary Part-Time JOB SUMMARY This position assists with research, development, and administrative duties in support of the Public Safety-Emergency Services programs and activities. This position reports to the Public Safety Emergency Services Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Assists with research in support of Public Safety projects.
- Assists with development of plans and documents for the department and community use.
- Assists with administrative functions.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Current enrollment in an accredited college or university majoring in Public Administration, Homeland Security , or closely related field; High school diploma or equivalent; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Qualifications: Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Knowledge of public administration principles and practices.
- Knowledge of local government operations, policies and plans, and modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of basic local, state, and federal emergency management principles.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other similar programs.
- Skill in using computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes.
- Skill in the use of small office equipment, including calculators, copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
