    Location: Position will be based in Jefferson City, MO.

    What you'll do:

    • Disseminates information regarding employee benefits; informs employees of policies and procedures and responds to a variety of personnel and payroll questions.
    • Review Outside Employment Requests
    • Assist Divisional and Departmental Recruitment and Retention coordinators in addressing hiring needs within Children’s Division
    • Review Position Description Forms
    • Administers or assists in the administration of a human resources program with emphasis on employee relations and the recruitment, selection, placement, training; advises supervisors and agency administration regarding a variety of human resources issues.
    • Works in cooperation with the Division of Personnel in the maintenance of the position classification plan; reports staff duty changes; recommends classification of new positions and changes in existing allocations; and reviews and/or recommends changes to Uniform Classification and Pay (UCP) system class specifications.
    • Directs the maintenance of personnel files and records, preparation of reports, and processing of personnel actions in conformity with agency policies, state and federal law, and other considerations.
    • Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff.
    • Supervises hiring process to ensure adherence to state and federal laws and other considerations; oversees background checks, reviews hiring packets, and develops interview questions.
    • Oversees or participates in recruitment functions; attends career fairs.
    • Exercises independent judgment and action in the performance of duties under general supervision.
    • Reviews and processes Educational Leave Program Applications
    • ENGAGE/Reflect Liaison
    • Answers questions regarding policy and benefit questions
    • Other duties as assigned.


    All you need for success:

    Minimum Qualifications

    Three or more years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System, and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

    OR

    A High School Diploma or High School Equivalent and Seven or more years of professional human resources/personnel administration experience with a primary focus in employee relations, recruitment and

    selections, employee grievance, position classification, and/or compensation. SAM II HR experience (preferred).

    OR

    A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably a degree in Human Resources Management or a comparable field and three or more years of professional human resources/personnel administration experience with a primary focus in employee relations, recruitment and selections, employee grievance, position classification, and/or compensation. SAM II HR experience (preferred).

    ( A combination of earned credit hours from an accredited college or university in the preferred fields such as Human Resources, Business, Public, or Personnel Administration; experience described may substitute for the stated qualifications. 30 credit hours are equivalent to 1 year of experience. Professional experience as described must be of a substantial period of time (over 50% of time) ).

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
    • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to travel throughout the State of Missouri as needed
    • SAM II HR experience
