The purpose of a Network Operations Supervisor is to report to the State Data Centers' Network Operations Manager. It is your responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a Network Operations Center (NOC), including monitoring network performance, identifying and resolving network issues, managing a team of network technicians, and ensuring smooth network functionality by providing technical guidance and leadership to their team; essentially acting as the leader in maintaining network stability and resolving problems within the NOC.

Key responsibilities of a Network Operations Supervisor: - Team Leadership: Managing a team of network technicians, assigning tasks, providing technical support, and coaching team members.
- Incident Management: Managing network incidents, coordinating response efforts, escalating critical issues to appropriate stakeholders, and documenting incident resolution.
- Capacity Planning: Analyzing network usage trends and proactively planning for future network capacity requirements.
- Performance Reporting: Generating reports on network performance, identifying areas for improvement, and presenting findings to management. Creating and interpreting system reports that reflect case-related statistics.
- Security Management: Collaborating with security teams to ensure network security best practices are implemented and monitored.
- Change Management: Overseeing network changes and upgrades, ensuring proper documentation and change control procedures are followed.
- Network Monitoring: Actively monitoring network performance metrics, identifying potential issues through alerts and alarms generated by network monitoring tools.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving network problems, including troubleshooting issues related to routing, switching, firewalls, and network connectivity.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Reliability, self-motivated, attention to detail, ability to research and troubleshoot hardware and software issues, plus experience evaluating network performance.
- Ability to learn new technological skills, to interpret and apply standards, policies, procedures, follow verbal and written instruction, and understand technical documentation.
- Ability to work with a team to develop and implement procedures and best practices.
- Knowledge of staff mentoring and coaching techniques with the ability to use that knowledge to mentor, train, and assist other team members.
- Ability to plan, organize, think critically, problem solve, make decisions, recommend solutions, multi-task, and prioritize assignments to meet required deadlines.
- Must also have the ability to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
