Description:The Jefferson County Department of Human Services is seeking a customer-focused, detail-oriented individual to join the Community Assistance Division (CAD) as an
Associate Eligibility Specialist Lead. This role involves training and supporting the Associate Eligibility Specialists (AES) in public benefits programs, including Food, Medical, and Cash Assistance, ensuring compliance with county, state, and federal regulations.
SCHEDULE:This schedule for this position may be 5/8s (8-hour workdays Monday-Friday) or 4/10s (10-hour workdays Monday-Thursday) to be determined at time of hire based on business need.
The position is primarily on-site in Golden with some opportunities to work remotely.
COMPENSATION: Anticipated Hiring Range: $ 25.27-$28.50 USD Hourly
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:- Team Leadership: Train and support a team of AES, managing high volumes of inbound and outbound calls, resolving client concerns, and ensuring performance goals are met. Assist with calls as needed.
- Process Supervision: Oversee the team’s data entry, application processing, and document management within CBMS and workflow systems. Ensure adherence to procedures and assist with application initiation and renewals.
- Training & Support: Assist with training new AES and ES staff, and interns, create training resources, and provide guidance in complex cases. Respond to daily inquiries and provide ongoing support.
- Audit & Case Research: Guide staff in managing case files on audit lists, ensure proper file documentation, and communicate with internal teams to resolve case issues.
- Client Interaction: Act as the point of contact for walk-in clients, ensuring effective referrals to appropriate services and handling face-to-face customer requests.
- Collaboration & Reporting: Assist with report preparation under federal and state guidelines, collaborate with internal teams and partner agencies, and coordinate with supervisors to redistribute workloads during absences.
Additional Responsibilities:- Collaborate with other divisions and external partners to resolve client issues.
- Perform interim duties when supervisors are unavailable, ensuring smooth team operations.
- Take on additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: - Minimum of Three (3) years’ work experience in eligibility for Medicaid, Food Assistance, Colorado Works and/or Adult Financial programs.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Please note that an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Preferred Qualifications: - Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in human services, call center experience, and previous eligibility determination experience.
- Strong leadership qualities to inspire and motivate others.
- Exceptional customer service skills, ensuring a positive experience for clients.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to collaborate with teams and partners to achieve shared goals.
- In-depth knowledge of eligibility programs (Food, Medical, and Cash Assistance).
- Critical thinking skills to solve problems effectively.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic, high-volume environment.
- Proficient Spanish speaking abilities preferred for role.
