    The primary focus of a System Administration Specialist is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficiency of systems that support the State of Missouri’s core organizational functions. A Systems Administration Specialist will be responsible for the support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of server applications throughout their life cycle.

    This position will work closely with a team supporting various content management systems. Successful candidates will learn the administration of OnBase, IBM Content Manager, and Kofax systems, as well as general server administration. Candidates will routinely work problem tickets, moderate system access, and work with the team on upgrades and implementations. Successful candidates should take pride in expanding their capabilities, proactively research new technologies to improve current systems, enjoy solving complicated problems, and be able to work collaboratively in a team.

    This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting Enterprise IT Operations (EIT).

    • Lead software installations, configuration, testing, and maintenance.
    • Ensure applications/software/processes meet ITSD standards and security protocols.
    • Maintain properly functioning systems, ensuring seamless operations within the organization.
    • Apply skills to address software/hardware issues and failures and identify areas of potential improvement.
    • Manage and resolve problem tickets and tasks.
    • Lead in designing infrastructure architecture designs.
    • Lead in designing and updating agreed-upon processes and workflows.
    • Lead the evolution and enhancement of software, hardware, and processes.
    • Develop plans and processes for disaster recovery and system redundancy.
    • Manage and configure storage solutions and secure file transfers.
    • Collaborate with ECM team members for enterprise-level integrations.
    • Build/maintain team relationships and participate in team collaboration/activities.
    • Promoting communication and transparency by nurturing vendor sales and support relationships.
    • Remain innovative by staying at the forefront of content management technology.
    • Frequent reoccurring reporting of time and efforts back to leadership.
    • Uses expertise to consider alternatives and best courses of action that align with ITSD and agency goals.

      Prepares for transitions and reduces operational disruptions by practicing change management skills.


    • Expertise in Windows server administration.
    • Familiarity with Linux server administration
    • Basic knowledge of SQL queries and database administration.
    • Knowledge of network infrastructure and network troubleshooting.
    • Understanding of cybersecurity policy and best practices.
    • Understanding of IT policy and best practices.
    • Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
    • Excellent time management skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently as circumstances dictate.
    • Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
