Duties Description
Under the supervision of higher-level managers and the park administrative team, the Recreation Complex Manager 2 supervises programs and operations within Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park in the Aquatics Complex. The incumbent performs the following duties:
• Supervises staff assigned to the Aquatics Complex; coordinates, implements, evaluates, and supervises aquatics programming, swim team, water safety programming, and pool operations at Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park.
• Works closely with the Regional Office and the Park Admin team to develop lifeguards’ exams, training dates and coordinates for the State lifeguard exam.
• Covers scheduled Officer of the day shifts and inspects all complex staff reports, daily program schedule, cleaning, maintenance tasks performed by all complexes on scheduled OD shift.
• Coordinates and/or teaches learn-to-swim programs with various staff or instructors; and develops other aquatics programming responsive to public interest
• Supervises and assigns seasonal lifeguards, Water Safety and Instruction Assistants, and lower-level Water Safety and Instruction Supervisors.
• Supervises and oversees Filter Plant Operator Supervisor, seasonal filter plant operators and filter plant operations.
• Schedules water safety staff and various teams for complex coverage, as needed, and assists with staff recruitment and testing programs.
• Presents and coordinates in-service training for all staff.
• Reviews and ensures staff are familiar with all agency and facility safety policies and procedures regarding pool operations.
• Performs facility inspections of the Aquatics Complex including staff and public use areas for cleanliness and safety.
• Supervises physical training and conditioning activities of water safety staff.
• Performs equipment inventories and assigns maintenance tasks - tracks to ensure daily operational needs are met.
• Provides recommendations for equipment needs and inspects various swimming areas.
• Conducts pool water tests for turbidity, residual chlorine, and PH levels and delivers to various labs for testing.
• Prepares seasonal payroll by checking sign-in sheets and approving staff timesheets on LATS.
• Prepares written reports, as needed.
• Develops a preventative maintenance program for the complex; documents and coordinates the repair of complex systems, structures, and fixed equipment within the complex.
• May also serve as shift supervisor in another complex, as needed, supervising programs and operations.
• Works closely with volunteers, the community, and vendors to ensure NYS Parks’ mission is always met.
• Determines the needs for purchasing materials, equipment, and supplementary contractor services for required maintenance and repair of various buildings, mechanical systems, fixed equipment, and grounds.
• Makes recommendations to higher level management for policies, procedures, training, and facility improvements to enhance the customer experience and promote customer satisfaction.
• Ensures that all Agency, Regional and Park standards for service delivery, customer service and employee conduct and performance are consistently met. Sets standards and assigns tasks based on the daily operational needs of the park.
• Carries out other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have 7 years of experience, including 1 year of supervisory experience, directing an athletic, sports, or recreation facility or program; OR a bachelor’s degree in any field and three years of the general experience, including one year of supervisory experience.
Substitution: A master's degree in park administration, recreation, physical education, fine arts, or a closely related field may substitute for one year of the required general experience.

OPERATING NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment. If not licensed at the time of appointment, the appointee must obtain a driver’s license without restrictions or conditions within the term of probation
• This position is 40 hours per week; weekend, holiday, and evening work are required as operational needs arise.
• Must be well organized and creative.
• Must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

DOWNSTATE ADJUSTMENT: $3,400
