    Graduate Student Intern

    $15.90/hour

    Part-Time Position (Temporary/Casual Staff)

    2 Positions to be Filled

    The Graduate Student Intern will provide general administrative and testing assistance to all levels of personnel. This position will assist with organizing files, assisting with proposal development, assessment data collection, and writing draft reports. The Student Worker II will assist with planning and coordination for conferences and visits to the TT&IC. This position will utilize Microsoft Office 365 and other project software, as well as vendor provider software being assessed.

    This position works as a member of the TT&IC team and reports to the Director TT&IC.

    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, and current enrollment in a graduate degree granting program at an accredited college or university.
    • One year of related experience.


    Required Licenses/Certifications:
    • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • One year of work experience.
    • Experience or education in public policy, safety or defense related fields.
    • Experience in researching and writing graduate level reports.
    • Interest or experience in technical products, programs and operations.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.


    Physical Requirements:
    • Physical conditioning consistent with movement of records or files, equipment, and course materials up to 35 lbs.
    • Ability to communicate in English orally and in writing.
    • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
    • Ability to work in outdoor environments for testing operations.
    • Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving an automobile and/or state vehicle. (if applicable)


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet applications, and presentation software applications Microsoft Office 365.
    • Ability to interact positively and professionally with clients and staff.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
    • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.


    Equipment:
    • Standard office equipment: computer, keyboard, multifunctional printer, telephone.
    • Prototype products, equipment and instruments for testing.
    • Occasional use of agency vehicles.


    Notifications:
    • This position is security sensitive.
    • This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
    • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TEEX regulations and procedures.
    • Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving a personal or TEEX vehicle.
    • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and Agency safety requirements.


    Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:

    Provide general office assistance - 60%:
    • Planning for conferences/summits.
    • Conducts online research of technologies, organizations and public safety companies.
    • Answers inquiries regarding TT&IC capabilities.
    • Assists with testing preparations.
    • Assist team in testing and evaluation, data collection and drafting reports.
    • Assists with updating computers and course equipment.


    Other divisional/program related responsibilities - 40%:
    • Serves as initial customer service point of contact to include greeting visitors, directing students, and answering/transferring phone calls.
    • Responds to customer service inquiries via phone and email.
    • Copies, scans, files, sorts and compiles records and documents.
    • Enters and maintains accurate data in relevant databases and spreadsheets.


    Other Duties:
    • Utilizes a state vehicle to run departmental errands.
    • Maintains and safeguards assigned divisional equipment and property.
    • Maintains a clean and neat appearance.
    • Maintains an orderly and clean workspace.
    • Performs additional work duties as assigned.
