    Supply Services Division has one (1) Warehouse and Toolroom worker position for Emergency Appointment. The vacancy is located at 445 Ferry St., San Pedro, CA 90731 and is a 9/80 schedule.

    REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    One year of full-time paid experience or 2,080 cumulative work hours in a warehouse or stockroom receiving, storing, and accounting for materials or supplies; or Six months of full-time paid experience as a Utility Pre-Craft Trainee with the Department of Water and Power assisting with receiving, storing, and accounting for materials or supplies in a warehouse or stockroom.

    Job Description:

    • Prepare requisitions for stock replenishment.
    • Physically pull orders and issue stock.
    • Review issues, verify and enter Stock Issue Requests.
    • Pull and inventory items for salvage.
    • Assist customers at the issue counter.
    • Handle telephone and e-mail inquiries.
    • Perform physical counts for cycle counting.
    • Assist in special projects as time permits, as directed by the Storekeeper.
    • Receiving, logging, and data entry of stock and non-stock deliveries, including inspection.
    • Assist in contacting vendors regarding discrepancies in shipments and problems.
    • Shipping preparation for items being returned to vendor.
    • Stock putaway function, including determining bin locations and stock numbers, and rearranging or rotating existing stock where necessary.
    • Perform housekeeping duties.
    • May perform minor repair, maintenance, safety inspection, assembly of tools, equipment and materials prior to issuance.
    • May make occasional deliveries or will-calls for stock material

    Emergency Appointment

    An emergency appointment is not a regular appointment. It is a temporary appointment which does not require that you successfully compete in the Civil Service examination process. The appointment may not exceed one year and must be terminated immediately when a regular appointment can be made from an eligible list. No emergency appointment can exceed one year. (City Charter Section 1013).
