Summary(TEMPORARY - Part-Time Position - 1500 hour, PERS eligible) This position is budgeted to start at $16.91 - $17.34 per hour depending on qualifications.

The Community Services Department is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Aide II. This part-time (30-hours/week) position will support the Lead Maintenance Technician in repairing and maintaining recreation facilities throughout Escondido. Schedule shift will be Monday- Thursday 7 a.m.- 3 p.m. (1-hour unpaid lunch).
General Responsibilities:- Under the supervision of the Lead Maintenance Technician, clean, repair and maintain orderliness of Recreation facilities.
- Provides assistance as needed to fellow employees for special programs, daily tasks, and unanticipated events.
- Perform a variety of manual or semi-skilled duties related to maintenance and repair of City facilities.
Position responsibilities include:- Cleans facility grounds; keep arenas, Sports Center facility and parking lot clean and orderly.
- Performs minor building and facility maintenance as needed.
- Cleans and disinfects restroom surfaces including toilets, floors, fixtures, mirrors, etc...
- Inspects facility and equipment for safety purposes.
- Maintains simple records and performs minor computer tasks.
- Monitors quantities of supplies and materials used, and replenishes as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate for this position will:- Work well in a team environment, and display good customer service skills.
- Use and properly operate assigned equipment, tools, and terminology used in maintenance work.
- Have experience in custodial or building maintenance.
- Have the ability to lift 30 lbs.
Minimum requirements:- 18 years of age
- Valid class C driver’s license
- Be able to obtain current First Aid/CPR certifications within 30 days of hire
- Weekday and weekend availability

SELECTION PROCEDUREApplications will be screened and the most qualified candidates will be invited to appear for testing. All positions require the ability to read, write and speak English.
