    We are seeking a qualified individual that has experience in data analysis and statistics for a position that plays an important role in public health. The position will be the senior analyst for complex Vital Statistics projects. This is a highly responsible position requiring data management, statistical and analytical skills. They will serve an integral role for maintenance, enhancement, and expansion of the Missouri Information for Community Assessment (MICA) data system and the Community Data Profiles, which are major components of the Department’s web-based data query application MOPHIMS (Missouri Public Health Information Management System). The position will appeal to individuals who like to work with numbers, programming, and are interested in trying to find innovative ways to share data with public health stakeholders.

    • Write, review and edit SAS code related to vital statistics files that develops datasets for protocols and for aggregate reports for ad hoc requests.
    • Oversee data quality and system functionality for Vital Statistics related indicators associated with MOPHIMS.
    • Prepare data sets and files across all of BHCADD surveillance systems which feed into MOPHIMS and work closely with other teams in BHCADD to manage the data. This includes writing, reviewing and editing SAS code or other approved methods which feed into MOPHIMS or its successor.
    • Assist in the development of a new and advanced comprehensive data tool for the department. This position will play a vital role in managing the data that feeds into this tool.
    • Review requests for complex and/or confidential data related to vital statistics through the data protocol process. Once projects receive approval, this position would be responsible for providing data on some of the projects.
    • Write and edit reports for grant applications on various public health topics.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree. Transcripts are required.
    • At least four years of experience with data and analysis. Advanced education may be used as a substitute in applicable situations.
    • Experience with spreadsheets and word processing programs such as Excel and Word as well as other PC desktop resources.
    • Experience with SAS or other statistical software and general programming techniques is highly desirable but not required.
    • Highly organized and detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
