The Missouri Department of Social Services Children’s Division is seeking applicants to serve as the Assistant Deputy Director. This is highly responsible administrative human services work in the management and coordination of children’s programs in Children’s Division.
What you’ll do: • Review programmatic data at a statewide, regional, and circuit level to liaison with program line experts to implement action driven strategies to improve performance and support best practice.
• Support and provide direction to the statewide Training and Quality Improvement/Assurance Units.
• Project Management lead of large-scale projects that impact field operations.
• Support the Assistant Director, as needed, in regional supervisory support.
• Create and implement feedback loops between field practice and the Training Unit to continually improve training quality.
• Consulting and offering direction on metrics/data visualization.
• Supporting coordination and implementation of Federal Performance Improvement Plan strategies.
• Participate in various work groups at local and state levels and perform other related work, as needed.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle in the performance of assigned duties.
• Conducts research through data analytics to evaluate and enhance existing programs and drive change.
• Provides direct/indirect supervision of staff and monitors operations
• Directs or assists administrative staff in general management, policy development, program planning, and/or coordinates assigned responsibilities.
• Represents or serves as a liaison for the assigned area of responsibility; maintains contact with various staff, clients and public; cooperates with and addresses federal, state, local and community organizations, and other groups pertaining to the assigned programs.
• Exercises considerable initiative and judgment in planning and implementation of assignments or projects; receives directions and supervision from an administrative supervisor.
All you need for success:Minimum Qualifications - A High School Diploma or High School Equivalent and ten or more years of professional experience with a public or private agency in the delivery of protective services, including casework/case management in: investigation of abuse or neglect; coordination of foster care, adoptions, and family centered services; treatment/rehabilitation; and/or providing in-home family crisis intervention services, and possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
OR
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably a degree in Social Work or comparable human services field. and
Six or more years of professional experience with a public or private agency in the delivery of protective services, including casework/case management in: investigation of abuse or neglect; coordination of foster care, adoptions, and family centered services; treatment/rehabilitation; and/or providing in-home family crisis intervention services, and possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
(Substitutions allowed)(A combination of earned credit hours from an accredited college or university in the preferred fields such as social work, family and child development, special education, psychology, sociology, or related behavioral sciences and experience described may substitute for the stated qualifications. 30 credit hours are equivalent to 1 year of experience. Professional experience as described must be of a substantial period of time (over 50% of time)).

Prior experience in the following area(s) is preferred: Supervision, data utilization and visualization, training or training development, curriculum design/implementation, and/or large scale project implementation.
• Project Management (preferred) OR comprehensive understanding of strategic planning and work plan development/execution (documentation may be requested)
• Lean/Six Sigma or some other form of continuous improvement work related experience preferred
• Strong leadership and organizational skills with proven ability to set and obtain aggressive goals and targets
