    Job Location: This position will be located at the Fulton State Hospital (Maintenance Building), 600 E 5th St, Fulton, MO 65251.

    The internship schedule is flexible at 20-40 hours per week and has the potential for full-time employment after the internship ends!

    This position is with the Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management, Design, and Construction (OA-FMDC) supporting the Operations Team. OA-FMDC is committed to strengthening the State’s investments while providing a safe and secure environment through innovative design solutions and excellent customer service.

    FMDC Vision - Building for a Stronger Tomorrow (BFAST)

    • Assist FMDC Operations team in the daily oversight, maintenance, and comprehensive HVACR operations of facilities in the North Central Region.
    • Shadow and assist with installations, repairs, and maintenance, as well as preventative and corrective work orders.
    • Observe and learn troubleshooting techniques for heating and cooling equipment.
    • Provide support in performing system inspections, diagnosing issues, and recommending solutions.
    • Help maintain inventory, workspaces, machinery, and equipment.
    • Participate in hands-on technical work to expand your knowledge of HVACR systems and services best practices.


    • Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license or from an adjacent state if you reside outside of Missouri.
    • Current enrollment in an accredited bachelor’s degree program, technical college, or vocational college.
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective communication skills.
    • Ability to properly lift and carry 50 pounds.
    • Preferred Field(s) of Study: Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning Technology (HVAC); Facilities Management and Operations; Construction; or other related field.


    Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate's name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.

    *This position is physically demanding. Examples of job duties may include prolonged periods of walking/standing/sitting/bending/driving, climbing ladders, ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, working in inclement weather and working on uneven or elevated surfaces. This list is not all inclusive, but a general representation of duties that may be encountered in this position, however other duties may be assigned contingent upon business needs. Please note, this position is considered a “Category 2” under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), meaning the incumbent will be compensated for overtime (hours actually worked over forty hours in a workweek) at the rate of time and one-half.
