Program Assistant. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the City's municipal cable television operations.
Your impact- Supports and collaborates with the Communications & Engagement team, division leads, and partners to produce high quality, engaging video and photography on a variety of City-related topics.
- Facilitates, produces, and directs video productions, which may include tasks such as script writing and editing, lighting and audio set-up, conducting voice-overs, and format design. This may require knowledge on how to set-up and operate professional field cameras, how to conduct post-production editing and motion effects using Adobe Premier, After Effects, and Final Cut Pro 10, and how to operate teleprompters and recording devices.
- Produces and broadcasts live meetings, seminars, and workshops, and provides technical direction for cable broadcasts of public meetings and special events.
- Sets up, coordinates, and operates audio, visual, and lighting equipment for special events.
- Updates and maintains content on the City of Irvine's YouTube and cable channels.
- Organizes, catalogs, and maintains video and photograph graphic assets library.
- Monitors and maintains supplies and equipment inventories.
- Maintains up to date knowledge with the latest industry trends, best practices, and cutting-edge tools and techniques in video production, photo editing, and the creation of electronic motion graphics.

Minimum Qualifications - Junior/community college coursework in business, office practices or related field with four years increasingly responsible administrative support experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. May require a valid California driver's license.
Your Team The Communications & Engagement Department plays a crucial role in maintaining an effective flow of information between the City government and its residents, businesses, and visitors. Made up of four divisions: Marketing & Communications, Irvine Community Television, Cultural Affairs, and the Hotel Improvement District, the department is responsible for ensuring that the public is well-informed about city policies, initiatives, events, programs, and services. It manages various channels of communication, including the City website; its award-winning quarterly magazine, Inside Irvine ; social media platforms; press releases; digital media; video; and more, to disseminate important information to the community. Additionally, the department engages with the public through community outreach programs and public relations efforts, seeking to foster a sense of community and facilitate feedback and participation from residents and businesses.

The Process The selection process will include an examination and a background investigation prior to appointment. This recruitment may establish an eligibility list to fill future positions in similar and/or lower classifications within the organization.
