Assistant Youth Coordinator: Monday-Thursday, 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., Friday, 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.,
Health & Wellness Coordinator: Tuesday-Thursday, 12:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., Friday, 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Saturday, 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Qualifications
REQUIRES high school graduation and 6 months of experience in recreational activities. May be required to possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. Must pass a preemployment drug screen as prescribed by the City.
Qualifications
Assistant Youth Coordinator:- Supports the planning, execution, and evaluation of recreational programs and activities for youth.
- Performs a high level of performance, the ability to work independently with minimal guidance, and strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Assists with budgeting, outreach, event coordination, and administrative tasks to ensure high-quality, engaging, and accessible programming for the community.
- Maintains a high standard of performance, demonstrating initiative, accountability, and problem-solving skills.
- Works independently with minimal supervision, uses critical thinking to make informed decisions that align with program goals and policies.
- Assists in designing, implementing, and evaluating a diverse range of recreational programs and activities tailored to various age groups and interests.
- Supports budget management by tracking program expenses and revenue without purchasing privileges.
- Creates and submits supply requests to the Senior Recreation Director and obtains quotes from vendors as needed.
- Handles front desk transactions, including cash handling for program fees, memberships, and event registrations, in accordance with financial policies and procedures.
- Promotes programs and events through social media, flyers, community outreach, and other marketing channels.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with community members, local organizations, and key stakeholders.
- Addresses participant concerns and gathers feedback to improve program quality and overall satisfaction.
- Maintains accurate records of program participation, financial transactions, and other relevant data.
- Prepares and submits regular reports on program performance, participant demographics, and financial status.
- Analyzes program data to assess effectiveness and provides recommendations for future initiatives.
- Assists in organizing and executing special events, workshops, and seasonal activities, including logistics, staffing, and scheduling.
- Collaborates with external vendors and partners to secure event support and resources.
- Evaluates event outcomes and collects feedback for continuous improvement.
- Implements emergency procedures and coordinates first aid or medical assistance as needed.
- Manages program registrations, including online and in-person sign-ups, payments, and cancellations.
- Handles program-related inquiries, correspondence, and phone calls in a professional manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the success of youth programs.
Health & Wellness Coordinator:- Plans and organizes assigned recreation activities in the area of Health and Wellness (Examples: group exercise, yoga, Zumba, HITT, Bootcamp, Silver Sneakers, mobility, Tai Chi, group and/or personal training, nutrition, and/or healthy living) and/or Health and Wellness events, and activities.
- Develops new programs and activities by researching trends, community requests, and evaluating community needs.
- Promotes community center and division programs.
- Prepares class and schedule information and market it using brochures, the division social media, and/or other materials and methods.
- Assists in implementing the marketing plan for division offerings.
- Observes and monitors the quality of Health and Wellness programs, events, classes and activities.
- Prepares and controls equipment inventory and stock deliveries.
- Orders, inspects, and maintains recreation equipment and materials.
- Assists supervisor with program budget development and management.
- Maintains records and develops reports concerning new and/or ongoing programs and program effectiveness.
- Performs administrative tasks, such as attending and scheduling meetings, monitoring expenditures, and maintaining records.
- Performs routine facility maintenance and logistics, including but not limited to, the setup and tear down of tables, chairs, equipment, and supplies.
- Oversees fee collection and accounting activities.
- Reviews records and files to ensure proper accounting and documentation consistent with City policies and procedures.
- Maintains records and completes required reports.
- Works collaboratively with internal and external customers.
- Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public.
- Provides information regarding assigned recreational program area.
- Analyzes customer inquiries and determine steps necessary to resolve issues.
- Assists with Department special events as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
